Accepting new clients via office + telehealth

Hi, I’m Alex Baxter!

Hi there, I’m so glad you’re here! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children and adolescents. I love spending time with my dog and living in the desert.

My passion is working with children (ages 2+), teens, and young adults. My goal is to connect you or your loved one with internal happiness, capability, courage, and resiliency as we navigate the different stages of life.

I strive to provide a nurturing, welcoming, and safe atmosphere that allows my clients to explore their emotional experience, learn effective skills, and make changes that push them toward healing and wellness.

I will meet you where you are, in any given moment, and provide gentle, yet encouraging guidance towards goals.

Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming and daunting for some. I hope that you will find my approach to be warm, supportive, empathic, and accepting.

I look forward to working with you and your family as you begin the journey toward wellness!

What it’s like to work with me.

  • I build my work upon a client-centered approach, as I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation to therapeutic success. I will use an integrative approach tailored to you or your child's needs and incorporate non-directive and directive play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive-arts interventions, skill building, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, talk therapy, and a strengths-based approach.

  • I have been told that I have a gentle, encouraging, and calming presence. I am nonjudgmental and allow space for you to feel and process things at your own pace.

  • I love working with a variety of people, not only based on age but on different problem areas. My clients are typically children or adolescents that need help exploring emotions, may be having behavioral issues or struggling with things like anxiety or impulsivity. My young adult clients tend to be dealing with phase of life issues, navigating school, career and stressors related to becoming an adult.
